Partnering up with Switch Your Thinking and the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, Landcare SJ plan a Native Garden Expo to be held April 21st at Bill Hicks Reserve, Byford.

Native Garden Expo

Bill Hicks Reserve is located on Plaistowe Blvd, Byford. Situated next to a playground and oval.

Presenters are coming from a range of backgrounds including the Oakford Native Nursey, Beyond Gardens, Birdlife Australia, and the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.

There is also workshops for the kids using recycled products to design plant labels and bottle spinners, something for the whole family.

See the program below for details.

Free Verge Plant Program

The event is designed to promote the Free Verge Plant Program run in partnership by Landcare SJ, The Roadside Care Volunteers and the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.

The Free Verge Plant Program provides FREE native seedlings to be planted on verges within the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.

Landholders are also able to apply for free herbicide to control weeds before planting begins.

Landcare Support Officer Teele Hooper-Worrell says “The expo is going to be a fun relaxed day where attendees can learn a whole raft of ideas to help inspire them to plant native seedlings on their verge.”

“Native verges provide food and shelter to our native animals as well as providing a water-wise, low maintenance attraction for your home”.

This year there is a new online application form which can be found here
