Dirk Brook, Punrak Rd – planting with Serpentine Environment Group on a sunny winter’s day.
Truth be told, we were a bit nervous putting the seedlings in the ground at a sandy site on a very warm day with not much rain at all so far this season! Thankfully, the rain arrived that night.
Sarah Way, new staff member at Landcare SJ enjoyed her first planting day with us, as did Teele’s new dog Audie.
This site is part of a drain reserve that was first planted in 2003 as part of the Dirk Brook Drainage Project. A fire went through the site which took the revegetation efforts back to square one, and gave the weeds a boost! Since then, more seedlings have been planted, with the long and slow result of reduced weeds and increased native species.
