Local Volunteers make an Improvement on the Scarp

On Friday 23rd July Landcare SJ Team members along with local conservation group, Byford Enviro-link and residents planted seedlings in a patch of bushland on the Scarp estate in the south of Byford.

Weeds had previously been removed and the soil had been assessed to improve the survival rate of the seedlings.

A new biodegradable plant guard has been used in this year’s plantings. These guards will prevent seedlings from getting too hot in the summer and being a risk to local wildlife and also save valuable volunteer time by not needing to be collected and destroyed.
