Landcare SJ and the SJ Equine Landcare Group, through funding from the State Natural Resource Management Program, is planning their next set of field days to support horse property owners in sustainable management.
The next four field days will be focused on:
1. Property Planning and PIC Numbers 27th April
Belinda Taylor from Hoof Hearted Hoof Care, pasture guru and property planning consultant will take you through the main ways you can start to plan your property out. Planning can help boost horse health, saving you time and money and decrease the effects of horse keeping on the environment.
A Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development Officer will talk about P.I.C numbers- what it is, if you need one and how to apply. There is a lot of confusion regarding PIC numbers and the horse community this event will help to clear that up.
2. Soil Amendments with bus tour to C-Wise 19th May
Our second field day will be a bus tour leaving from the Landcare SJ Office. Tour the C-Wise facility and find out how they make their composting products.
Find out about soil amendments, why they are so important and how they can support your pasture while keeping horses. Learn how to clay those sandy soils and sandy those clay soils!

Grow Safe will also be attending to showcase their products. This company uses biologically friendly and bio-available minerals in their compound mineral fertilisers and have been used on Serpentine properties with results. Find out when and how to use fertilisers for your successful pastures.
